The word "character" gets thrown around a lot in political debate, paticularly when discussing the merits of various candidates. What is meant by "character" is rarely defined but I imagine it would look something like John and Kathleen Edwards in Chapel Hill, today.
Verisimilitude is one thing. Studying pictures of dog fights until you vomit is another.
