According to Joblo.com, Maria Bello is replacing Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O'Connell in the third Mummy movie, which is filming this summer.
Recasting roles is never a good idea. It's an especially bad idea when a good chunk of your movie's appeal is based on the chemistry and a certain Bringing Up Baby-esque screwball rhythm between your leads. And then there's the whole sequel to a sequel thing that rarely works even when creative teams remain entact (Spiderman 3).
Basically, it's going to suck ass, which is not even the saddest thing is this tale of Hollywood greed. No, the saddest thing is that I will still end up seeing it, somehow, in some form, somewhere. That's the saddest part.
