The Golden Compass chps 1-4

Damned if I'm not really liking it. I feel a hell of a dogfight coming farther down the pike as Pullman gets into the philosophy of the world but so far, TGC is a really enjoyable, interesting read. It's also making me want to reread "Paradise Lost" because I have some suspicions about how certain characters relate to those in Milton's poem, so there will probably be a trip to the James Joyce this afternoon.
