Okay, show, I officially didn't see that coming.

So, Riley's either from the future or has been suborned by Jesse. Okay, nothing good is going to come of that, not ever.

I'm a little disappointed that Riley is future girl - I liked her "spooky ninja" work for what it appeared to be and I can't decide if it's more or less brave to face down a terminator if you know what it is. Of course, Riley may not know, Jesse may be controlling her somehow but how?

Meanwhile, I don't buy that Jesse's there to stop Cameron - if Jesse put Riley in play, it means Jesse's been back more than long enough to get Cameron along and end her. TSCC is building up a nice case that destroying a terminator isn't that hard with the proper tactics, weaponry and execution.

And how does stopping John from growing up creepy and metal-loving in 20 years involve gaslighting him?

Unless Riley really is trying to drive a wedge between John and Sarah, which is what fans always accuse new characters of doing anyway. But what if in this case, it's actually true?

Meanwhile, Derek is up on his high and mighty horse and being played like a puppet - his words to Sarah are going to turn to ash in his mouth. And here's where I go back to the story of Samson and Delilah from the very first episode of the season - in the bible, Delilah doesn't cut Samson's hair, another Philistine climbs in the window as shears Samson while he sleeps. The story is less about outright betrayal than how Samson, in his arrogance, places his faith in someone he shouldn't and shares secrets with her that were given by God to him alone.

Kyle Reese has always been John's Achilles heel and in TSCC, the knowledge of John's paternity has become a shibboleth, a key into the inner circle of Sarah and John Connor's trust. Derek turning that information over to Jesse, who he knows has been lying to him about her purpose, is the dumbest of the dumb plays.

The normal rules no longer apply.

I know less than nothing about Go but according to the Internet the one-two point is the life and death moment of Go, the moment in a game that makes the difference between winning and losing or losing and losing badly - the normal rules no longer apply. So while Sarah is off chasing shadows, and getting increasingly pissed off (although good things happen when Sarah gets pissed), Jesse has created a fifth column within the Connor household, with both Riley and Derek working against John.

And now Jesse has the golden key, the piece of knowledge upon which John Connor's existence depends.

Thanks to (Tin) Miss Exposition, we know a game of Go has an almost unlimited number of permutations. What if Catherine Weaver's enhanced, educated AI decides that the only way to win future!war is not to play by kiling not only John Connor but his mother, his father - eradicating every trace of his existence from the future so that no Connor mother or son can rise up to threaten Skynet's existence.

And the only thing stopping Skynet from attempting that was identifying John Connor's father. Information that Jesse now has.

Interesting.
