Bad fanfic is a zombie plague that rapes your pets and drinks all your beer.

*thwuppt*

Oh, and it also eats your brains.

LJ seems to believe that there's a zombie apocalypse going on out there (I find this ironic considering my last post). Fortunately, there was no sign of slavering hordes of living dead out on the lawn behind our complex - at least no more so than usual considering the abnormally high population of government drones and political hacks in the neighbourhood.

No zombie apocalypse is good news for me as I'm informed that I have less than a 30 per cent chance of surviving one. I'd be more upset if I hadn't seen the movie - seriously, where is the upside of surviving a zombie apocalypse (as opposed to a zombie uprising, which seems to be more of an aggressive disruption in normal services and public infrastructure than an actual end-of-days type deal)?

Basically, if it can't be fixed with a cuppa tea and some quiet reflection, I'd just as rather die in the first wave and let all you intrepid Outward-Bound-like-to-poop-in-the-woods types deal with my corpse, thank you very much.

*screams*

Also my cat is rubbish. RUBBISH! Instead of protecting me he's sloped off somewhere to hide. He's so getting fed to the zombies when they make their fleshy try for us.

eta: Oh, that was awesome. Scary as fuck but awesome. If you don't love the BBC you're just not paying attention - who needs CGI when you have imagination? Brilliant. "Blink" and "Family of Blood" have quickly made up for a slow and not particularly promising start to Season Three.

Oh, and mind the lizard.

And why I'm bothering, I'm not sure. Nevertheless, one more time, repeat after me:

Characters in original works are not and can not be considered
"Mary Sues".

Anyone who says otherwise has no fucking idea what they're talking about and therefore are disqualified from participating in any further conversation.

Furthermore, Wesley Crusher is not a valid example of a "Mary Sue" in an original work: Star Trek: The Next Generation is itself a derivative work (which means that WC may be, in fact, a "Mary Sue". This point, however, is not germane at the moment).

To anyone who argues that Starbuck or Elizabeth Swann or whoever is a "Mary Sue" because the character is, in your opinion, flawless, always right, always wins, *cough*a female hero or POV character*cough* - not, of course, that misogyny has anything to do with this discussion (Although note we're discussing "Mary Sues") - I have a single question: Is Superman a "Mary Sue"? Is Batman? What about Luke Skywalker? Aragorn?

And if Starbuck is a "Mary Sue", what the fuck does that make Captain Kirk?

Assholes.
